The Spuria Iris Society was organized in 1952.

About Us

who we are

The Spuria Iris Society is a Section of

The American Iris Society (AIS).

All AIS members are encouraged to join whether or not they are spuria growers.

At the Spuria Iris Society, we're dedicated to expanding the public's knowledge of spuria irises. Spurias grow and bloom well in most areas of the country.  Most modern hybrids are descendants of species found in Southern Europe and east throughout Afghanistan, and are admired for their ease of growth and enormous size.  Their exquisite flowers are highly sought by both florists and arrangers.

The Spuria Iris Society has a Board of Directors who actively communicates electronically during the year to make sure all membership needs are met. Our Directors make presentations about spuria iris throughout the country and abroad. During the National Convention of the AIS, we normally have a spuria iris presentation for everyone interested to attend. If you like to help the society by volunteering in any way, please be in touch with us and we thank you in advance.
